About my artwork
Alison Williams is a South African video artist, filmmaker & painter based in Port Elizabeth, Nelson Mandela Bay, South Africa. Her works appear internationally in various Film Festivals, Galleries and Art Museums. She is concerned with visual emotion and the triumph of the human spirit, using mainly performance-based works with a strong tendency towards the dramatic. Her video art is aimed at the public, using art as a vision and a voice to express sociopolitical concerns. These could be classified as psychological performance-based works, produced in isolation or in remote areas. She emphasizes gender-issues and sentiments pertaining to the human condition and takes part in collaborations which promote Human Rights.
Interested mainly with the production of works that disturb normal modes of being and using travel and personal life experience in her art; as she believes that life and art are inseparable entities. Alison Williams is the Founder, Director & Curator of Human Emotion Project which screens many international artists globally and shows Films that represent human emotion, incorporating the moving image. These works screen in various Festivals & Galleries globally.
Contemporary Abstract paintings working predominantly in large-scale oils, but meddling in a variety of mediums either in combination with Video Installation or else hunting out intriguing ways to express "thought makes action" - get that feeling out. Large spontaneous action works which allow the full venting of emotion, act as a form of therapy and release.
Productions and collaborations with artists, filmmakers & various curators to screen Human Emotion Project result in a variety of screenings. Group projects as well as her private productions and art.
